THE PEACOCK STORY

The peacock is the iconic symbol of Clara Baldwin Stocker Home. Clara's father, Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin, imported three pairs from China around 1910. The beautiful birds resided at his home which is now the site of the Los Angeles County Arboretum. Today the population of peacocks extends to the majority of urban Southern California locales. When you next witness peacocks for their beauty (or cringe at their loud, boisterous call), you can thank Lucky Baldwin for their majestic presence.
